Meredith has just finished reading Sonya Hartnett's new book, The Midnight Zoo. It is beautifully written, set in a war-torn country. Two brothers who are caring for their baby sister, as they try to avoid soldiers, stumble on an abandoned zoo.
The harsh realities of war in this book, are countered by the fantasy elements in the novle. Some aspects are quite graphic but the ending is nevertheless hopeful. |
