LOVE Your Bookshop Day 2017

Long banner with date and invitation

Love Your Bookshop Day is about celebrating bookshops, bookselling and the culture of books, reading and writing.

So whether you love us for our amazing staff and their awesome advice and friendly service,
our carefully curated range of gorgeous books,
our great events,
or just simply that wonderful sight and smell
when you step through the door,
we’d love to see you on Saturday 12 August

to help us celebrate!!

Here’s some of the great stuff we’ve got planned for the day:

  • Author and ABC Sports guru, Paul Kennedy, whose fantastic book Fifteen Young Men recounts the 1892 Mornington Football Club tragedy, will be in store from 1-2pm signing books – come on down for a chat!

  • We’ll be donating 10% of sales for the day to the Indigenous Literacy Foundation to support the fantastic work they do.  You can find out more about the ILF here.

  • Get creative and sign our graffiti wall – add in your favourite book titles, have a go at illustrating your favourite book character or just tell us what you love most about Farrells!

  • Face Painting for the kids!  From 10.30am-12.30pm we’ll have free face painting for all our youngest bookshop lovers.

  • Story time at 11 am with children’s author and illustrator extraordinaire, Anna Pignataro

  • Double Loyalty Points! – for one day only, if you’re a member of our Friends of Farrells Loyalty Program, you’ll earn double points for any eligible transaction (usual FOF rules apply).  Ask in store if you’d like to hear more about the Friends of Farrells Program.

  • The launch of two fantastic competitions ahead of our 40th birthday celebrations in 2018 – Favourite Farrells and Design a Bookmark – come in on the day to be first to hear about them and maybe even pop in an entry!

  1. I’ve lived on the Peninsula for 30 years and Farrells was one of the first shops in Mornington I explored. So I can say, I have enjoyed thirty years of excellent service in this amazing store. In fact, when my three children were young, we visited so often, that my youngest child was under the impression that Farrells was the Library! No request is ever denied by the staff – an obscure book is found and ordered, study guides for school literature were obtained, the perfect gift is suggested and beautifully wrapped. The Farrell Family set the bar high for the running of their business and they must delight in the bookshop’s continuing success. ….I do love my Bookshop!!

    • Wow Denise, what beautiful words for us – thank you so much!! If it’s okay with you, I’m going to enter them in our Favourite Farrell’s competition that we’re running in lead up to our 40th birthday celebrations next year. We look forward to seeing you and your family again soon – and for a long time to come! :)
