The best books this season as chosen by Australia’s leading booksellers
about us
We are a proudly independent general bookshop located in Mornington, Victoria, about an hour south-east of Melbourne on the beautiful Mornington Peninsula.
We have been part of our community for more than 45 years, sharing our passion for books and reading and providing our customers with quality service and specialised knowledge. Farrells is a welcoming and inclusive space to connect with other book lovers.
Drawing wisdom from an array of thinkers and artists, including Plato, Simone Weil, and even Radiohead, @stangrantofficial expansive and philosophical new book When Words Fail Us invites readers to reconsider the meaning and necessity of silence in an age of noise and relentless distraction.
In the first of our new series presented in partnership with @portphillipestate , guests will enjoy a special meal curated by the estate’s hatted restaurant set against sweeping views of the Mornington Peninsula.
Tickets include a two-course menu designed by Port Phillip Estate and beverages will be available for purchase. Register via the link @wheelercentre (link in bio). @farrells_bookshop will be selling books on the night.

Book Face Friday.
@mary.colussi - Touch Grass.
Charlie deletes other people`s worst moments for a living; ironic, considering she`s been trying to forget her own for years.
When her consciousness starts spontaneously ejecting from her body, Charlie becomes the first known case of a bizarre new phenomenon - and the unwilling centre of a global crisis.
And an immortal sheep might be the key to everything.
As disembodiment spreads, corporations celebrate it, governments fear it, and Charlie can`t decide whether she`s losing herself or finally escaping. But the memories she worked so hard to delete won`t stay gone, and the only way to survive a world splitting at the seams may be to reclaim the self she tried to erase.
Astute and inventive, Touch Grass explores identity, consent and the hilariously messy business of being a friend, sister and person - especially when someone keeps editing the footnotes.
