gift vouchers

Gift vouchers are a great choice for book lovers of all ages and provide them with the joy of choosing for themselves. If you are unable to visit the store, you can arrange purchase and postage of our Gift Vouchers by phone or from our online store.

We offer TWO options:

option one: our own Farrells Vouchers, which can only be redeemed at our store. These can be made to any value of your choice and may be spread across a number of transactions until used in full. While it is not currently possible to redeem these vouchers on our online store, we can process them over the phone.

option two: BookPeople Gift Cards can be redeemed at many bookshops around Australia, but have the added advantage of being available as a digital e-Gift card or as a physical card and may be redeemed over several transactions until the balance has been used in full.  The gift cards are available in any amount between $20 and $500.  These gift cards are like cash and therefore cannot be redeemed over the phone.  We sell the physical BookPeople gift cards in store and online, but digital e-Gift cards must be purchased directly from BookPeople. We will also accept unexpired Australian Book Vouchers for sales in store, though these are no longer available for purchase having been replaced by the BookPeople gift cards.

Please note that gift vouchers and gift cards cannot currently be used for online purchases.

gift wrapping

We have a range of quality paper available if you need that book wrapped for a special occasion. Ask our friendly staff at the time of purchase, and we will gladly wrap your book, time permitting!

From time to time we may ask for a gold coin donation for our wrapping service, with all proceeds going to an identified charity.


We are very happy to arrange for your purchase to be posted to you if you are unable to visit our store.  Please note that we do NOT ship internationally – Australian domestic addresses only. 

Purchases can be made via our online store, over the phone or via email, using a credit card. Postage is generally a flat rate charge – for up to date details please check our FAQ.

special orders

Have a particular book you’d like to get your hands on, but can’t find it in store?  Our staff love a good challenge and will do our best to track a copy down for you.  We can’t always source everything, but we’ll give you as much information as we can.  There is no additional cost for our special order service beyond the retail price of the book and occasionally a small order surcharge if it’s coming from a small supply we do not order through regularly. Ask in store now or send us an email enquiry. 

friends of farrells – loyalty program

We offer a loyalty program for our regular local customers: Friends of Farrells (FoFs).

It is very simple to join. You may like to request a membership form when you are next in the shop, and a staff member will happily go through the parameters with you.

Once you have registered, there are no cards to lose as we simply ask that you provide your phone number at the beginning of a purchase.

If you are unable to visit we can arrange to email or post a form or answer queries over the phone.

Please note that loyalty points will accumulate for online purchases providing contact details are up to date, but points cannot currently be redeemed against online purchases.

our refund policy


Please choose carefully as we do not give refunds for change of mind or making a wrong decision.

A refund will only be offered if goods are faulty, have been wrongly described or are different from a sample shown to you.

If this is the case AND you have a receipt showing valid proof of purchase, you may choose between a refund, exchange or credit voucher.


If you change your mind about an item or have provided a gift to someone who wishes to exchange it, each of the following requirements must be met:

  • our receipt must be provided as proof of purchase;
  • the item must be in as-new, saleable condition; and
  • it must be within 28 days of the original purchase date.
